Grass Roots Qualifier - The aim of the British Heavy Horse Grassroots Championship is to encourage the more novice or inexperienced exhibitor into the competitive world of showing. To qualify, neither the exhibitor nor the horse should be entered into any Horse of the Year Show qualifying classes for the 2019 show season.

The highest placed novice competitor will qualify for the British Heavy Horse Grassroots Championship. This event will be held as part of the Rare Breed Show at Arena UK ‪on 5th October 2019. This competition is for purebred horses that are registered in the main British stud books of the Shire, Clydesdale or Suffolk Horse Societies. Part bred animals are not eligible to qualify for the championship.

Competitors must be members of either the Shire Horse Society, The Clydesdale Horse Society or The Suffolk Horse Society. For the avoidance of doubt, as the Percherons are not listed as British Native Rare Breed with the RBST, they are not eligible to join this show/qualification, with the exemption of the British Ridden Heavy Horse class.

Stallions are not permitted in the British Heavy Horse Grassroots Championship.

A £25 appearance fee will be awarded to each horse brought forward in this Section
